Cultivating attachment communities for kids: Three essential keys
Burnaby District PAC
We want our kids to thrive but parents were never meant to go it alone. Building a village to support us in raising our kids is critical especially in a digitally focused and peer oriented culture. We need to create the matrix of relationships our children can rest in including teachers, mentors, guides, nurturers, and role models. The challenge is today’s culture lacks rituals and customs to foster attachment villages for kids/teens to be raised in. We can create a sense of home for our kids by providing a sense of rootedness, belonging and connection wherever they are. If parents and other adults are to share the task of raising children/teens then we must actively cultivate the village they need by focussing on three essential and enduring keys.
